Join Professor Hall Groat as he teaches students the fundamentals of observational still life painting through demonstrating a simple composition of a scrumptious stack of partially eaten Oreo cookies and a glass of milk. Also included is another demo that explores in greater depth an antique railroad conductor’s pocket watch. Students are able to see firsthand through very close up video shots of Hall carefully applying the paint in order to suggest the characteristic details of the cookies and pocket watch. He explains specifically how he goes about applying the paint and why he is handling the paint brush a certain way.
